Flex 3 Beta Released

Flex 3 looks to add a significant number of new features and enhancements. Some of these include the long awaited 'Tree-Grid' component, code profiling, incremental compiling and built-in skin previews. The most exciting new feature is something that is NOT included. Basically, the Flash Player now hosts a significant portion of the Flex Framework natively which will allow for MUCH smaller sized Flex SWFs. Way to go Adobe Flex team!

Apollo Rebranded as AIR (Adobe Integrated Runtime)

Apollo is now known as AIR or Adobe Integrated Runtime. According to Adobe, AIR is a cross-operating system runtime that allows developers to use their existing web development skills to build and deploy rich Internet applications to the desktop.

Apollo Beta will include SQLite Embedded Database

According to Mike Chambers, senior product manager for developer relations for Apollo at Adobe, in the upcoming beta release of Apollo we see will include SQLite as an option for Apollo developers to create/access databases embedded in their application. This is great news for those who are already used to creating web applications.

Welcome to the Bloomington Flex User Group (BFUG)

BFUG is based in Bloomington, Indiana. We are just getting started, but this page will house resources available for Flex developers of any level. In the next day or so, I will begin to formalize the official plans for the group and get a hold of more members.
